    DAMON AND PHINTIAS
    There once were two best friends named Damon and Phintias. They lived in Syracuse, Sicilyi the 4th century BC. They were philosophers of Pythagorean School.
    One day Phintias was sentenced to death by Dionysius the Younger, the ruler of the city, for plotting against his rule. Phinthias then begged for permission to go home to finish his private affairs before he’s executed. Dionysius of course refused his request. Phintias felt very and hopeless. But then, Damon came to Dionysius and begged to grant Phintias’s request. Damon loyally offered to replace phintyas while he is gone. He is willing to take Phintias’s place in prison. Dyonisius then agreed and granted their request.
    Phintias was very happy and thankful for his friend’s sacrifice. He promised Damon that he will returned as soon as possible. He started home as fast as he can.
    Days gone by and Damon waited very patienly in jail. But until the day before his execution, Phintias had not returned. And on his execution day Phintias still had not returned. Damon knew that he had to take Phintias’s place and get executed if Phintias didn’t show up.
    It turned out that Phintias had tried to keep his promise to his best friend, but he can’t. He got delayed on his way back. Phintias heart beat fast. He felt very uneasy. He feared that he would be too late, and Damon, his faithful friend will get executed because of him.
    Dionysius told Damon that it’s the execution day and since Phintias hadn’t returned he had to take his place. Incredibly, just as Damon was about to die in his palce, Phintias arrived. He shouted to stop the execution. He felt so relief that his friend is still alive. He apologized to Damon for his delay. Damon said that it’s alright and he told Phintias that he trusted him.
    Dionysius was so impressed by this example of loyality that he pardoned Phintias and asked to share their friendship.

    DAMON DAN PHINTIAS
    Ada sekali dua sahabat bernama Damon dan Phintias. Mereka tinggal di Syracuse, Sicilyi SM abad ke-4. Mereka adalah filsuf dari Sekolah Pythagoras.
    Suatu hari Phintias dijatuhi hukuman mati oleh Dionysius Muda, penguasa kota, untuk merencanakan melawan kekuasaannya. Phinthias kemudian memohon izin untuk pulang ke rumah untuk menyelesaikan urusan pribadinya sebelum dia dieksekusi. Dionysius tentu menolak permintaannya. Phintias merasa sangat dan putus asa. Tapi kemudian, Damon datang ke Dionysius dan memohon untuk mengabulkan permintaan Phintias itu. Damon setia ditawarkan untuk menggantikan phintyas sementara dia pergi. Dia bersedia untuk mengambil tempat Phintias di penjara. Dyonisius kemudian setuju dan mengabulkan permintaan mereka.
    Phintias sangat bahagia dan bersyukur untuk pengorbanan temannya. Dia berjanji bahwa ia akan Damon kembali sesegera mungkin. Dia mulai pulang secepat dia bisa.
    Hari berlalu dan Damon menunggu sangat patienly di penjara. Tapi sampai hari sebelum eksekusi, Phintias belum kembali. Dan pada Phintias harinya eksekusi masih belum kembali. Damon tahu bahwa ia harus mengambil tempat Phintias dan dieksekusi jika Phintias tidak muncul.
    Ternyata Phintias telah mencoba untuk memenuhi janjinya kepada sahabatnya, tapi ia tidak bisa. Dia mendapat tertunda dalam perjalanan kembali. Phintias jantung berdetak cepat. Dia merasa sangat gelisah. Dia takut bahwa dia akan terlambat, dan Damon, teman setia akan dieksekusi karena dia.
    Dionysius mengatakan kepada Damon bahwa itu hari eksekusi dan karena Phintias tidak dikembalikan ia harus menggantikannya. Hebatnya, seperti Damon akan mati di palce nya, Phintias tiba. Dia berteriak untuk menghentikan eksekusi. Dia merasa begitu lega bahwa temannya masih hidup. Dia meminta maaf kepada Damon untuk keterlambatannya. Damon Dionysius sangat terkesan oleh contoh loyalitas bahwa ia diampuni Phintias dan diminta untuk berbagi persahabatan mereka    .
    mengatakan bahwa itu baik-baik saja dan dia mengatakan bahwa dia Phintias mempercayainya.

    Teks recount

    Untuk menghasilkan teks recount, ada 4 tahap yang bisa ditulis, yaitu:
    1. Pertama, kita harus memperkenalkan atau menceritakan orang yang terlibat dalam cerita, keterangan tempat, dan waktu (Orientation).
    2. Kemudian kita menceritakan semua kegiatan yang terjadi secara berurutan, biasanya kita menggunakan kata first, then, next, etc.(Events).
    3. Kita bisa memberikan komentar terhadap suatu kejadian, biasanya untuk pengalaman pribadi  atau personal recount, contohnya What a beautiful beach, or How cute he was (Evaluation)
    4. Kemudian diakhiri dengan simpulan atau perasaan penulis tentang pengalaman tersebut, contohnya: I was so happy, or We were so tired (Re-orientation)

    Contoh teks recount mengenai pengalaman seseorang mengunjungi suatu tempat :

    My Day at the Beach

    Last week my friend and I were bored after three weeks of holidays, so we rode our bikes to Smith Beach, which is only five kilometres from where I live (Orientation).  When we arrived at the beach, we were surprised to see there was hardly anyone there.  After having a quick dip in the ocean, which was really cold, we realized one reason there were not many people there.  It was also quite windy.
    After we bought some hot chips at the takeaway store nearby, we rode our bikes down the beach for a while, on the hard, damp part of the sand.  We had the wind behind us and, before we knew it, we were many miles down the beach.  Before we made the long trip back, we decided to paddle our feet in the water for a while, and then sit down for a rest.  While we were sitting on the beach, just chatting, it suddenly dawned on us that all the way back, we would be riding into the strong wind. (Events)
    When we finally made it back home, we were both totally exhausted!  But we learned some good lessons that day. (Re-orientation)

    Berlibur ke Palangkaraya
    Rencana ini mendadak. Saya dan keluarga saya pergi ke kota palangkaraya, karena ibu saya di minta untuk pelatihan disana. Ini terjadi saat hari raya idul adha tahun lalu.
    Pada jumat siang, kami tiba di tempat tujuan dan menginap di tempat kakak saya yang ada disana. Keesokan harinya, saya diajak untuk berkeliling kota dan mengunjungi taman wisata kumkum. Lokasinya tidak terlalu jauh dari jembatan kahayan, ikonnya kota palangkaraya. Tempat ini sejuk dan di penuhi oleh pohon-pohon sehingga cocok untuk berkumpul bersama keluarga. Disini juga disediakan beberapa kandang binatang khas Kalimantan, seperti buaya, beruang madu, kuskus, dan lain-lain.
    Tidak terasa, hari mulai senja. Kami pun pulang. Walaupun hanya sebentar, itu sudah membuat saya senang karena bisa berkumpul dengan keluarga seperti ini.



    Vacation to Palangkaraya
    This plan suddenly. My family and I went to town Palangkaraya, because my mother asked for training there. This happened when the feast of Eid al-Adha last year.
    On Friday afternoon, we arrived at the destination and stay at a place my sister who were there. The next day, I was invited to tour the city and visit the theme parks Kumkum. Location is not too far from the bridge Kahayan, Palangkaraya city icon. This place is cool and filled with trees, so that suitable for gathering with family. Here also provided some unique animal enclosures Kalimantan, such as crocodiles, sun bears, couscous, and others.
    Not felt, it was getting dusk. We went home. Although only briefly, it has made me happy because can gather with family like this.
